I am back in full swing from my holiday hiatus, and definitely in an “ease back into things” kind of mood… but then again, who isn’t? I’m a little reluctant to give up my sweatpants, comfort foods/drinks, and downtime. Therefore, this week’s cocktail recipe of choice is my most favorite cold weather winter beverage… and no! It’s not just for Christmas! But yes! It is the epitome of lazy 🙂
Peppermint Schnapps Hot Chocolate
- 2-3 oz peppermint schnapps
- 8 oz milk or water (always better with milk)
- 4-infinity tablespoons of hot chocolate mix
- Marshmallows (some say optional, I do not)
- Peppermint candy bits (actually optional)
Pre-work: Put the schnapps in the freezer.
Heat up the milk/water to almost but not quite boiling temperature via stove, microwave, etc. Prep your mug with hot chocolate powder. Once the liquid is heated up, pour it into the mug and mix well with the powder.
Now, this is very important… the reason the schnapps is kept in the freezer is to provide the perfect amount of cooling to your scalding hot beverage! Add it to the cocoa, and voila! Perfect temperature.
Garnish with as many marshmallows and candy bits as your heart desires, and enjoy every last bit of peppermint chocolaty goodness!
