Maple, Bourbon… SMASH!

This week marks the start of my fall cocktail series that will hopefully be the perfect lineup of libations to serve at Thanksgiving. Because it is my favorite holiday of all time, it get’s a whole month! 🙂 I am going to make an attempt at representing a wide array of flavors to hopefully cover everyone on your guest list, but let me know if you’ve got a specific request!

A while back I did a pulse about what sort of booze you all were craving, and it was a close race! Ultimately bourbon came out on top, so this week’s feature is a Maple Bourbon Smash:



2 oz bourbon (I’d recommend 45th Parallel for those of you in the Midwest)
1 oz freshly squeeze orange juice
1/2 oz cinnamon maple syrup
1-2 dashes orange bitters
orange peel & cherry for garnish


Add ice and ingredients to a cocktail shaker, and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a glass with ice. Garnish with orange peel and cherry, and enjoy!

I know you may be thinking that sounds like an odd combination of things, but I promise you it’s tasty! The add of cinnamon maple syrup is what makes this drink perfect for fall in my opinion, but you could also sub in any flavor of maple syrup you’d like. Try it out and let me know what you think!
