Shake It Up

I am particularly pumped about this week’s recipe. Every once in a while, it’s important to be self indulgent, and in March, for a number of people (myself and my friends included) that means hitting the McDonald’s drive through for a tasty minty green beverage.

Well, good news people!!! Now you can have a more “adult” and homemade version that is EVEN BETTER than the original! I give you, the Drunken Shamrock Shake:

IMG_20150310_215651

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 2-3 oz of 101 proof Peppermint Schnapps (depending on your boozy and minty-ness preferences)
  • 3-5 Thin Mint cookies (save one to garnish!)
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Whipped Cream

Let the ice cream soften on your counter for 10-15 minutes. Then, add the ice cream, milk, schnapps, and food coloring into a blender – blend until smooth and creamy. Serve either in one large glass or two smaller ones, add your whipped cream, Thin Mint garnish, and a straw and enjoy to your hearts content. You can also make it without the Thin Mints, but what’s the fun in that? March is cookie month too!

It is easy and delicious and made a wonderful dessert last night after a rough start to the week. Amen for boozy desserts. Any suggestions for next week?

Cheers!
